David Swarr, PhD

Executive Director Int’l Orality Network; President & CEO 4.2.20 Foundation

Dr. Swarr serves as President and CEO of 4.2.20 Foundation and is Executive Director of International Orality Network. He previously served on the leadership team of ION and  stewarded the Audio Scripture Engagement portfolio. The global declaration of “Making disciples of the world’s oral learners through audio Scripture engagement” was a result of his collaborative effort with many organizations.

David was also a founder, President and CEO of Davar Partners International, an audio Scripture engagement organization with over 600 partner organizations in 90 nations.

David grew up in the Middle East and has lived and worked on five continents. He has a rich background in cross cultural leadership including senior positions in multinational companies, NGO’s, and a university, and holds a PhD in intercultural organizational leadership. Currently David and his wife Sharon split their time between Israel and the USA. They have two daughters.

Rev. Samuel Chiang

Lausanne Senior Associate for Orality; President & CEO The Seed Company

Rev. Samuel Chiang was born in Taiwan. He grew up and worked in Canada (Ernst & Young), graduated from Dallas Seminary where he also served on staff. He was ordained and sent out from the Peoples’ Church, Toronto.

He ministered alongside of the global Church, and has had extensive experiences with the Church in China. Previously with Partners International, he has been involved with leaders, curricula, software, and community development in China. Samuel has written extensively on China, Asia, and orality. He has also authored book chapters in ‘Innovations in Missions’, ‘Orality Breakouts’, ‘Sorrow and Blood’, ‘Ethnodoxology Handbook’, Beyond Literate Western Models’, ‘Beyond Literate Western Practices’, ‘Beyond Literate Western Contexts’, ‘Christ-Centered Generosity’. Additionally, he, along with a team of colleagues, edits the Orality Journal.

He was formerly the Executive Director of the International Orality Network; and also was the Chief Operating Officer for TWR, an international Christian media organization. He is the President and Chief Executive Officer of The Seed Company, a translation organization within the Wycliffe family of organizations working with mother tongue translators making available oral-written-digitoral forms of the Word of God in the heart language of the people so that the unreached and bibleless peoples will have their first Scripture to transform their own communities.

He taught his family how to fish, and is an avid runner and reader. He and his wife, Robbi, had lived in Hong Kong for 25 years.

Timothy King

Vice President Administration, The University of the Holy Land

Tim comes to the 4.2.20 Foundation with a recent history of working in the field of orality and oral learners as the Vice President, Partner Relations for Davar Partners International, and consulting work for the Home For Bible Translators in Jerusalem. He currently serves as Vice President Administration, for the University of the Holy Land that focuses on graduate level education for the study of early Christianity, including languages of the Bible.

As an American citizen with a BBA degree from Kent State University, USA, he was a co-founder of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem and served as its Financial Director for 27 years and has a background of corporate marketing experience in Canada and the USA.

He is a member of King of Kings Community Jerusalem Church and is a member and audit advisor of its non profit corporation. Tim is married with a married daughter and has made Jerusalem his home for 36 years.
